Use VBA add-ins and macros that you developed for Office for Windows with Office for Mac.

  1. MS Excel The Excel for Mac provides you to turn a number into insights. The familiar keyboard shortcuts and data entry and formula builder makes you brilliant. With your Excel data, you can see your data by recommending charts best suited for your numbers.
  2. If having Word and Excel aren't important enough to you to spend $70/year, then there are alternatives. You can just use Pages and Numbers, which you get for free with your Mac.
  3. Download Microsoft Word for macOS 10.14 or later and enjoy it on your Mac. ‎This application requires a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription. Microsoft 365 includes premium Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps, 1 TB cloud storage in OneDrive, advanced security, and more, all in one convenient subscription.

Word Excel For Mac

Apple has 'Pages' and 'Numbers' which are able to work with, respectively, Word and Excel files. You can purchase and download both from the App Store in your Dock. Both have the ability to export files as Word and Excel if you need to send files to other people who don't have Macs.

If you are authoring Macros for Office for Mac, you can use most of the same objects that are available in VBA for Office. For information about VBA for Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, see the following:

Outlook for Mac and OneNote for Mac do not support VBA.

Office 2016 for Mac is sandboxed

Unlike other versions of Office apps that support VBA, Office 2016 for Mac apps are sandboxed.

Sandboxing restricts the apps from accessing resources outside the app container. This affects any add-ins or macros that involve file access or communication across processes. You can minimize the effects of sandboxing by using the new commands described in the following section.
